Primary Four and Primary Seven Sacraments

9th Mar 2021

March 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope you and your family are keeping well at this time, which has been a challenge for all of us. I wanted to get in touch with you in regard to the preparation for First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation. Indeed, I acknowledge the ongoing preparation for the Sacraments. I take this opportunity to thank all involved- teachers, yourselves at home and our youth workers Kathryn and Aoife.

Many people are asking when we will be able to actually celebrate the Sacraments with children and families. This too is a challenging question. At present we are at the very early stages of the pathway to recovery plan posed by the Northern Ireland Executive on Tuesday 2nd March. Of course, this plan sets out how covid 19 restrictions may be eased over the coming weeks and months. However, it is important to note that the plan does not include any specific dates. In respect of this, I think that it is not possible at present for our parish to confirm any dates for the actual celebration of the Sacraments. Some may feel disappointed at this, but we have to be aware of the health and safety of people.

I want you to know that we will continue to monitor the situation very closely. I can also say that we will notify you as soon as possible when we feel confident to confirm a date for the Sacraments. I thank you for your patience and understanding. I ask you to continue to pray with your child or children in preparation for the Sacrament, to take part in online resources provided and indeed to watch Mass via the webcam.

Please be assured of my prayers for your family at this time.

Yours sincerely
